Variables of Restoration
Restoration is a highly custom archival investment. The final quote is determined by a technical assessment of the artifact's current state and specific preservation requirements.
Paper Acidity
Brittle, yellowing paper requires specialized chemical baths and deacidification treatments to stabilize the fibers for long-term preservation.
Color Loss
Fading from light exposure requires meticulous hand-tinting to match original inks without compromising the artifact's integrity.
Physical Damage
The extent of tears, holes, and paper loss dictates the complexity of archival grafting and precision structural repair required.
Sheet Size
Larger dimensions increase material costs and labor time for archival mounting and linen backing procedures.
restoration FAQ
What is the typical turnaround time?
Standard restoration and linen backing typically require 2–4 weeks, depending on the severity of the damage and current lab volume. High-complexity color reconstruction may extend this timeline.
How do I safely ship my memorabilia?
Posters should be shipped in a secure package. We recommend using a shipping service that provides a tracking number and signature confirmation for added protection.
Is my collection insured while in your care?
Items are not insured by Undead Cinematic while in our care or during transit. Clients are responsible for choosing a secure shipping method and obtaining any insurance coverage they want for their item. We recommend using tracked shipping and keeping all tracking and shipping records until the restoration is complete.
